Introduction to Computer Science/1.3 — Formative Activity: "Code Showcase"

1.3 — Formative Activity: "Code Showcase"

🎯 Activity Goals
  • Apply your new skills with print(), input(), and variables.
  • Practice sharing your code with your peers in a professional way.
  • Learn from your classmates by reading their code.

Your Task: The "About Me" Program

Write a simple Python program that does the following:

  1. Asks the user for their name.
  2. Asks the user for their age.
  3. Asks the user for their hometown or city.
  4. Prints a single, formatted sentence that includes all three pieces of information.

Example Output:

What is your name? Bjarne
What is your age? 74
What is your hometown? Aarhus
It's great to meet you, Bjarne! I didn't know you were 74 and from Aarhus.

How to Submit (A Two-Step Process!)

This is not a regular assignment. We are using a Discussion Forum to showcase our work.

  1. Step 1: Post Your Code. Navigate to the "Unit 1 Code Showcase" Discussion Forum. Create a new thread and paste your complete, working Python code into the body of the post. Use a clear subject line like "David's About Me Program".
  2. Step 2: Review and Comment. Read through the posts from at least two of your classmates. Leave a positive, constructive reply on their threads. (e.g., "I liked how you phrased your questions!" or "Your variable names are really clear.").
Why are we doing this?

Reading code is as important as writing it. This activity gets us comfortable with sharing our work and learning from each other in a supportive environment.
